Concordia Boasts This Year’s Tree Planting Record By Dove Hotz
Thanks to an impressive collaboration between Friends of Trees, the City of Portland, and your local Tree Team, our neighborhood had the single largest Friends of Trees planting this year, with 143 trees. Our FOT planting partner was nearby Vernon neighborhood, who did a phenomenal job coordinating the site, volunteers, and food. This year’s neighborhood coordinators were Jordan McCann and Dove Hotz (Concordia) and Erica Strauss (Vernon).
We express our sincere gratitude to local vendors who donated food, tools, and other supplies to the effort: Pizzicato Pizza, Hot Lips Pizza, BagelLand, Extracto Coffee, New Seasons, Alberta Coop, Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, Petite Provence. Northwest Natural Gas was a great corporate sponsor again this year, contributing both funds and volunteers, and Advantis Credit Union employees were also on the scene getting down and dirty!
It is never too early to start thinking about next year’s planting, so check out the Friends of Trees web site and think about a great spot to plant a great tree.
