Sunday Parkways Tree Tour – June 23 at Fernhill Park, 11:00 a.m.

Sunday Parkways has quickly become a Portland tradition. The Tree Team will be present to answer your questions about trees in our neighborhood, including Fernhill Park. At 11 a.m., join us for a guided tour of some of the park’s more notable trees.

Dating from the middle of the last century, Fernhill Park contains a fine mix of introduced and native conifers including five impressive coastal redwood trees and a rare lacebark pine from China. Come see these as well as a wide variety of deciduous trees from three continents. Jim Gersbach, who has been recognized by American Community Trees and, locally, awarded the Bill Naito Community Tree award for his work in Northeast Portland, leads this one-and-a-half tour.

  1. What time is the Fernhill Park tree tour? Thanks!

  2. Very great post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and
wanted to mention that I have truly enjoyed browsing your weblog posts.
In any case I’ll be subscribing in your rss feed and I am hoping you write once more very soon!

  3. Jim-

We are trying desperately to save an old, healthy Western Red Cedar from being cut down for residential building purposes. The tree is on our property line at 6220 NE 22nd, one block north of Alberta Park. Maybe your tree ride could take a quick detour by it? We’ll have a petition out for people to sign!

Have a great ride and thanks for all you do for the trees!
